For more than three decades, JMARK has served as a trusted IT partner across industries, helping businesses thrive with secure, reliable, and future-ready technology solutions.

The Opportunity

Are you a network professional who enjoys digging into complex problems, strengthening network security, and taking ownership of the technology environments you support?

JMARK Business Solutions is looking for a Network Engineer II to join our team as a dedicated onsite IT resource for one of our banking clients. You will be a JMARK employee while working primarily onsite at the client’s location, becoming a trusted technology resource for the bank while remaining fully connected to JMARK's larger team of engineers, technical resources, and leaders.

This role is designed for someone who has progressed beyond foundational networking and is ready to take greater ownership of network infrastructure, security, troubleshooting, and proactive technology management.

Because you'll be supporting a banking environment, reliability, security, documentation, communication, and attention to detail matter.

At JMARK, our philosophy is simple: People First. Technology Second.

We're looking for an engineer who understands that a stable and secure network isn't the end goal. The goal is helping the people and businesses relying on that network succeed.

What You’ll Do

As a Network Engineer II, you'll provide advanced onsite and remote technical support while helping maintain the security, stability, performance, and reliability of the client's technology environment.

You'll work independently and alongside JMARK's Service, Engineering, Project, and Technical Assistance Center resources to:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network, connectivity, infrastructure, and server issues.
  • Respond to escalated technical issues from Level 1 resources.
  • Diagnose issues onsite, remotely, and over the phone.
  • Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and support network infrastructure.
  • Secure and manage network environments to protect productivity, mitigate threats, reduce risk, and improve stability.
  • Administer and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, and related network security technologies.
  • Provide operational security support for the client's infrastructure.
  • Monitor network health and proactively identify potential problems.
  • Review network environments and service tickets to identify recurring or systemic issues.
  • Resolve proactive issues when possible and engage Level 3 or specialized JMARK resources when necessary.
  • Work with Project Managers and other technical resources on projects, implementations, and technology initiatives.
  • Perform installations, upgrades, migrations, preventative maintenance, and infrastructure changes.
  • Maintain a healthy service queue and ensure assigned issues continue moving toward resolution.
  • Participate in JMARK's on-call rotation as assigned.
Network Engineering and Security

A significant part of this role is maintaining a reliable and secure network environment.

You should be comfortable working with technologies and concepts including:

  • Firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • VLANs and LAN switching.
  • VTP and Spanning Tree Protocol.
  • Routing protocols and route troubleshooting.
  • VPN administration and troubleshooting.
  • Secure administrative access to network devices.
  • Network Intrusion Prevention Systems.
  • Network monitoring and alerting technologies.
  • Wireless network technologies.
  • Physical cabling and network infrastructure.
  • IP addressing and subnetting.
  • CIDR and multicasting.
  • IPv4 and IPv6.
  • WAN technologies and connectivity.
  • Endpoint and network security technologies.

You'll be expected to understand how these technologies work together and use that knowledge to troubleshoot problems, improve performance, and reduce risk.

Tools and Technologies

Depending on the environment and project, you may work with technologies and tools such as:

  • Cisco networking technologies.
  • Cisco ASA and VPN technologies.
  • Cisco Call Manager and Call Manager Express.
  • Meraki networking technologies.
  • SSH.
  • Wireshark.
  • LogRhythm.
  • ConnectWise.
  • Microsoft 365 and Microsoft technologies.

Experience with every technology listed isn't required. What matters is having a strong networking foundation and the ability to apply that knowledge across different platforms and environments.

More Than Keeping the Network Online

At the Network Engineer II level, we expect you to look beyond the immediate issue.

If the same problem keeps appearing, you'll ask why.

If you see a potential vulnerability, you'll raise it.

If an infrastructure change could improve reliability or security, you'll help evaluate it.

You'll be expected to:

  • Identify systemic and recurring technology problems.
  • Recommend sustainable solutions rather than repeatedly treating symptoms.
  • Help reduce technology risk and improve network reliability.
  • Use network monitoring tools to identify performance and availability issues.
  • Maintain accurate network and technical documentation.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, changes, configurations, and resolutions within ConnectWise.
  • Review documentation from Level 1 resources and help improve its quality.
  • Escalate appropriately when an issue requires Level 3 or specialized expertise.
  • Follow established change-management and security practices.
Supporting a Banking Client

This isn't a traditional role where you'll support a client from a distance and move on to the next ticket.

You'll work primarily onsite with one of JMARK's banking clients, giving you the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of their environment, employees, business operations, and technology needs.

You'll become one of the client's trusted technology resources while having the support of JMARK's broader technical organization behind you.

You'll interact with everyone from end users to managers and executives, so you'll need to:

  • Communicate technical issues in clear, understandable language.
  • Recognize that most users want a solution, not a technical lecture.
  • Provide courteous and professional service regardless of someone's technical ability or title.
  • Set expectations and communicate progress throughout an issue.
  • Take ownership and follow problems through to resolution.
  • Build strong professional relationships with the people you support.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the client's technology environment.
  • Understand the importance of consistency, security, and attention to detail within a financial-services environment.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong networking skills with great troubleshooting instincts and exceptional client service.

You'll likely thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy solving complex networking problems.
  • Understand networking beyond basic connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Have hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, switches, wireless networks, and VPNs.
  • Understand routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, and network security.
  • Can independently troubleshoot issues while recognizing when additional expertise is needed.
  • Think proactively and look for potential problems before they become outages.
  • Understand that security is part of every technology decision.
  • Take documentation seriously.
  • Manage priorities effectively and keep your work organized.
  • Communicate confidently with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Stay composed when technical issues are urgent or business-critical.
  • Take accountability for your work and follow through on commitments.
  • Enjoy sharing knowledge and helping other technical team members grow.
  • Are curious and continually want to expand your technical expertise.
Experience and Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with approximately 24 to 36 months of networking experience in a similar network engineering, network administration, managed services, or infrastructure position.

Equivalent experience through an apprenticeship program or demonstrated technical competency may also be considered.

Strong candidates will have experience with several of the following:

  • Managed Services Provider environments.
  • Advanced Windows Server support.
  • Firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Switch configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Wireless networking.
  • VPN configuration and administration.
  • VLANs, VTP, LAN switching, and STP.
  • Network authentication technologies.
  • Routing protocol configuration and troubleshooting.
  • IPv4 and IPv6.
  • IP addressing, subnetting, CIDR, and multicasting.
  • Network security and intrusion prevention.
  • Cisco or similar enterprise networking platforms.
  • WAN technologies.
  • Endpoint and network security technologies.

Networking certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, or comparable industry certifications are valuable, but demonstrated technical ability and experience are equally important.

You don't have to check every box. We're interested in people who can demonstrate the networking knowledge, troubleshooting ability, security mindset, communication skills, and initiative necessary to succeed at this level.

Technical Leadership and Teamwork

A Network Engineer II isn't expected to know everything, but you should be someone other team members can rely on.

You'll have opportunities to:

  • Assist Level 1 technical resources with escalated networking issues.
  • Share knowledge and areas of expertise with teammates.
  • Review technical documentation and encourage documentation excellence.
  • Mentor developing technical team members.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and Level 3 resources on complex problems.
  • Partner with Service and Project Managers on client initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, security, and client outcomes.
Schedule and Compensation

This is a full-time, onsite position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, technical knowledge, and demonstrated competencies.

Professional Development

Technology changes quickly, and continued learning is an important part of being successful at JMARK.

As a Network Engineer II, you'll have opportunities to:

  • Participate in ongoing technical training.
  • Pursue manufacturer and industry certifications.
  • Expand your expertise in networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Learn from experienced JMARK engineers and technical leaders.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, vulnerabilities, and industry trends.
  • Share your expertise with other team members.
  • Mentor developing engineers and technicians.
  • Participate in company-sponsored activities related to your position.
  • Continue building the skills necessary for future technical opportunities within JMARK.

Candidates must have:

  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Reliable and suitable transportation that can be used to perform job responsibilities when necessary.
  • Ability to travel as required by the position.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation as assigned.
