Job summary

The City of Hampton is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Information Technology Team. You will support the City’s LAN/WAN, assist with installation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure, and work under supervision with mentoring from senior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT/Networking or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of full-time experience supporting data networks.
• Minimum 1 year configuring enterprise wireless, firewalls, and switches.
• Alternative education/experience combinations may be considered as described.
• Preferred CCNA, PCNSA or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot City networks (LAN/WAN).
• Provide professional IT services supporting network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with IT team under supervision with mentoring from senior staff.
• May require after-hours support or on-call rotation.
• Pass background check prior to employment.
