Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a Network Engineer I to design, install, and manage the Town's LAN/WAN infrastructure across both physical and virtual data centers. You will work with staff and leadership to shape network strategy while advising on risk and security, including VPN, firewalls, IPS/IDS, and wireless systems.

You'll lead network projects, mentor teammates, and take ownership of recommendations. This role supports hybrid work arrangements and requires a background check and AZ driver's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• Three years of experience in the Information Technology industry.
• Two years of Enterprise Network Design and Administration, including Firewall Security.
• Must be able to pass a Police background check.
• Valid Arizona Driver License.
• Must participate in on-call rotation.
• CISCO CCNA preferred.
• CompTIA Network+ preferred.

Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer I ready to keep a growing city's technology running strong. In this role, you\'ll support and maintain enterprise systems across our data center - both physical and virtual - and partner directly with staff and stakeholders to shape where our technology goes next while advising leadership on risk. You\'ll get hands-on with the full stack of the Town\'s network: analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN, and wireless equipment.

To join us as a Network Engineer I, you\'ll need:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field. However, a non-technical degree can be acceptable if complemented with the appropriate certifications and/or experience;
• Three years of experience in the Information Technology industry;
• Two years of Enterprise Network Design and Administration, including Firewall Security;
• Must be able to pass a Police background check;
• Valid Arizona Driver License;
• Must participate in on-call rotation;
• CISCO CCNA preferred;
• CompTIA Network + preferred.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.

This department is currently working in a hybrid environment, with partial remote work.
