Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to design and maintain its LAN/WAN infrastructure, including wireless, data, and VOIP services. You will install, monitor, and document networks, VLANs, and routing configurations to ensure secure, reliable connectivity across county facilities.

The role requires hands-on Cisco expertise, CCNA/CCDA preferred, and the ability to be on-call 24/7 for critical issues and outages.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
5 years hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco switches, routers and firewalls.
Advanced network knowledge of Cisco technology, protocols and security systems in a converged network environment.
Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to interact with the public, vendors, and officials.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain Fort Bend County's LAN/WAN infrastructure and related hardware/software.
Perform or oversee network installations.
Monitor and document networks, VLANs and routing configurations.
Provide third-level support for LAN/WAN and VOIP issues.
Coordinate with outside vendors and ensure service contracts are honored.
