Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support the county’s LAN/WAN and wireless networks in Richmond, Texas.

You will configure Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls, monitor performance, enforce security policies, and coordinate with vendors to ensure reliable service. The role requires 24/7 on-call availability and may involve emergency management duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5 years hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco switches, routers and firewalls.
• Advanced Cisco knowledge of LAN/WAN and security in converged networks.
• Strong verbal and written communication and public interaction.
• CCNA or CCDA preferred.
• On-call 24/7 availability.

Responsibilities

• Participates in design of Fort Bend County’s network infrastructure.
• Install and maintain LAN/WAN and wireless networks.
• Provide third-level support and diagnose network issues.
• Work with vendors to ensure service contracts are met.
• Maintain network security measures and disaster recovery procedures.
• On-call support 24/7 and participate in emergency management.
