Job summary

Sorbis, a Boston-based MSP, is seeking a Network Engineer to join the team and support clients with wired and wireless networks. You will manage Active Directory, Hyper‑V, Azure, and Microsoft 365, while configuring routers, firewalls, VLANs, IPsec VPNs, and Layer 2 switches.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills, with on-call rotations and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience deploying and managing Active Directory forests, domain controllers, GPOs, DNS and DHCP.
• Strong virtualization experience with Hyper-V and virtualized server environments.
• Experience with cloud services such as Azure and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Ability to configure network routers, firewalls, VLANs, IPsec VPNs and Layer 2 switching.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and document wired and Wi-Fi networks across client sites.
• Provide Tier 2-3 on-site and remote support with timely resolutions.
• Manage and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, and IP networking issues.
• Assist with remote service desk activities and ticket-based workflows.
• Collaborate with team members and project managers to meet client needs.

We are a Managed Service Provider serving clients in the Boston metropolitan area. Our mission is to deliver exceptional IT services to a wide range of businesses, with networks primarily based on the Microsoft Windows platform. We are seeking a talented and experienced Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be diligent, resourceful, and highly skilled, with expertise spanning desktop support to server and network installation, administration, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain managed wired and Wi‑Fi networks, including hardware, system software, and applications.
• Design, configure, maintain, and document network infrastructure.
• Provide Tier 2-3 technical support to clients, both onsite and remotely.
• Assist with remote service desk support.
• Resolve and/or elevate technical issues promptly through a ticketing system.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and project managers to meet client needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory (2016, 2019, and 2022), including forests, domain controllers, OUs, GPOs, ACLs, DNS, and DHCP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Hyper‑V and virtualized environments.
• Expertise in network and internet‑related concepts such as DNS, HTTP, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 Cloud Computing Services.
• Ability to configure and support network routers, firewalls, and Layer 2 switches, including:
  • Inbound/outbound rules
  • Routing
  • IPsec VPN tunnels
  • VLANs
• Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Strong customer service orientation.

Requirements

• Professional and patient demeanor with a proactive, "can-do" attitude.
• At least one industry‑recognised networking certification (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA).
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
• Availability to participate in on‑call rotations and after‑hours support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technology‑related field.
• Additional certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell scripting.
