Job summary

HUB Tech is seeking a Network Support Engineer to lead networking initiatives within our MSP Support Team. You will troubleshoot and administer customer networks, coordinate with vendors, and resolve complex issues from a remote posture with occasional on-site visits.

The role emphasizes practical networking, strong customer interaction, and independence in a fast-paced MSP environment, supporting public and private sector clients across Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in networking environments (campus/municipal/educational/healthcare/commercial).
• Experience with HPE/Juniper/Aruba switching environments or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of VLANs, STP, LACP, DHCP, DNS, routing, and wireless concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Solid cybersecurity methodologies and controls knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Layer 2 and basic Layer 3 network issues.
• Configure, support, and maintain Aruba/Juniper switching environments.
• Diagnose outages, performance problems, and connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot VLANs, DHCP, DNS, wireless connectivity, and routing issues.
• Document resolutions and troubleshooting procedures; assist with repeatable processes.
• Assist Tier 1 and 2 engineers with networking-related requests.
• Perform onsite health checks as needed (mostly remote).

Position Summary

The Network Support Engineer will serve as the technical lead for networking within the HUB Tech MSP Support Team. Primary duties will be to resolve networking-related service requests consisting of Firewall, switch infrastructure and wireless access-points. Most work will be performed remotely with occasional on-site assessments and provide remote assistance for new network projects. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical networking, troubleshooting, customer interaction, and working within a fast-paced MSP environment. The ideal candidate can confidently troubleshoot and administer customer networks, coordinate with vendors, and resolve most networking issues independently.

Key Responsibilities, Network Support & Escalation

• Troubleshoot Layer 2 and basic Layer 3 network issues.
• Configure, support, and maintain existing Aruba/Juniper switching environments.
• Diagnose network outages, performance problems, and connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot VLANs, DHCP, DNS, wireless connectivity, and routing issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and be able to document findings.
• Assist Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers with networking-related support requests.
• Onsite Network and Wireless health checks as needed (most performed remotely)

Vendor Coordination

• Work cooperatively with vendors who are using our networks, like VoIP, CCTV cameras, access controls, and cabling contractors.
• Validate switch configurations and uplink requirements for seamless integrations.
• Troubleshoot networking issues introduced during vendor installations.

Documentation & Standards

• Create and maintain network documentation.
• Review and update network diagrams.
• Validate support standards and best practices.
• Document resolutions and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assist in developing repeatable support processes.

Required Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience supporting campus, municipal, educational, healthcare, or commercial networking environments.
• Experience supporting HPE/Juniper/Aruba switching environments or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of:
  • VLANs
    • Trunking
    • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
    • Link Aggregation (LACP)
    • DHCP
    • DNS
    • Routing fundamentals
    • Wireless networking concepts
    • Structured troubleshooting methodologies
• Experience supporting wireless networking environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Thorough understanding of Cyber Security methodologies and controls

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous MSP experience.
• Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA).
• Aruba Certified Switching Professional (ACSP).
• Juniper JNCIA-Junos.
• Fortinet/Fortigate firewall certifications or equivalent
• CompTIA Network+.
• Experience with Aruba Central

Work Schedule

This position includes both remote and on-site responsibilities, business hours M-F 8-5.

Because HUB Tech supports critical municipal, educational, healthcare, and commercial environments, occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required.

Participation in an on-call and escalation rotation may be required.

• Valid driver's license required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout Massachusetts and surrounding areas.
• Ability to lift and transport networking equipment up to 50 pounds.
