At Pennymac, our people are the foundation of our success and at the heart of our dynamic work culture. Together, we work towards a unified goal of helping millions of Americans achieve aspirations of homeownership through the complete mortgage journey.

Job Overview

The Network & AV Infrastructure Engineer oversees the development, implementation, and day-to-day operations of the company’s data and voice networks alongside all integrated Audio/Video solutions. This is a high-impact, hybrid role requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable managing enterprise firewalls and Cisco/Juniper switches as they are building out physical infrastructure for new office spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Operations: Support and lead the implementation of a rapidly growing network and voice infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPNs, QoS, WAN Optimization, Firewalls, and VoIP).
  • Infrastructure Build-outs: Lead new office expansions, including equipment racking, AP installation, cable pulls, and professional termination (Ethernet, Coax, and Fiber).
  • AV Integration: Install, configure, and maintain conference room solutions, including mounting TVs, ceiling speakers, and security cameras.
  • Maintenance & Lifecycle: Execute planned network maintenance to minimize operational impact and ensure 24/7 uptime for data and voice services.
  • System Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop scalable network designs, security policies, and AV-over-IP solutions.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose connectivity issues (Office, VPN, Open Internet) using tools such as Wireshark, Traceroute, and SNMP.
  • Physical Layer Diagnostics: Resolve hardware-level issues including signal loss, damaged cabling, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Security & Monitoring: Monitor firewall traffic and performance metrics using New Relic or similar monitoring solutions; implement changes as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in Network Engineering with a heavy focus on physical infrastructure and AV systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of switching, routing, and wireless protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with copper/fiber cabling, including running and terminating lines.
  • Familiarity with Security/Authentication: VPNs, RADIUS, LDAP, and Kerberos.
  • Telephony experience in production call centers or enterprise environments.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical installations including mounting hardware (TVs, speakers, cameras) and working in equipment racks.
  • Problem Solving: A proven troubleshooter who demonstrates sound judgment and the ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP) or Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) certifications are highly preferred.
  • Platform Experience: Experience with Juniper networking platforms and Access Control systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience within Financial Services or the Mortgage industry.
  • AV Standards: Familiarity with AV-over-IP, Dante, or specialized conference room hardware (e.g., Crestron, Q-SYS, or Zoom/Teams Rooms).
