Job description

The Network Engineer 3 is responsible for operations network support including script development, device configuration management, system administration, hardware and software support, maintenance, security, and troubleshooting. This role involves solution design, development, integration, and enhancements to meet business and project requirements. The engineer will also document operational procedures and provide end-user support.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Lead configuration and installation of network devices and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and QoS.
• Perform complex network maintenance and system upgrades including patches, service packs, hot fixes, and security configurations.
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
• Assist in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
• Promote information security awareness within the organization.
• Conduct information security risk assessments and serve as an internal expert on security issues.
• Provide Level 3 support and troubleshoot highly complex network issues.
• Work within established change and configuration management policies to ensure approved changes to network infrastructure.
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team.
• Act as primary liaison with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Computer Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience in network engineering system management.
• Demonstrated Associate-level experience in Network Engineering.
• Experience with networking protocols such as IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS.
• Solid knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and analytics tools.
• Experience with cloud environments.
• Proven experience with Cisco ACI or Cisco Nexus Data Center technologies.
• Knowledge of security management concepts including vulnerability management, patch management, and incident response.
• Skill in assessing security controls based on cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience as a Network Administrator supporting critical systems and providing technical solutions.
• Experience supporting utility construction and maintenance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional networking certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, F5-CTS, VMware VCP, or VMware VCAP.
• Additional experience supporting utility construction and maintenance.
