Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. is seeking an experienced Network Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire position located onsite in Woodland, CA.

The role focuses on managing the enterprise network, servers, and security to ensure high availability and stable connectivity across locations. You will lead infrastructure projects, implement best practices, and coordinate with IT leadership to advance the organization’s technology roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in network administration or a similar role with enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • MCSE – Preferred.
  • CCNA or equivalent – Required.
  • Strong grasp of managing network and endpoint protection solutions, and other security best practices to safeguard data and system integrity.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining an enterprise network.
  • Solid understanding of network design, architecture, and management principles.
  • Understanding of SOX audit requirements and related compliance standards.
  • Device Management: Mobile devices, MDM, hardware management and software upgrade management.
  • Backup and Recovery: Backup strategies.
  • Security: Network and endpoint security best practices, virus/malware removal.
  • Networking: DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP routing, subnets, VPNs, routers, switches, wireless technologies, and local and network printing.
  • Virtualization and Cloud: VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, cloud hosting concepts, and remote access.
  • Operating Systems and Servers: Windows Server, AD, Entra, Group Policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, maintain, and optimize the organization's enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Design, configure, troubleshoot, and support network technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and routing.
  • Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network, server, and connectivity issues while minimizing business disruption.
  • Implement and maintain network security best practices, proactively identify vulnerabilities, and support cybersecurity initiatives in partnership with IT Leadership.
  • Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Assist with deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of servers, network equipment, endpoints, mobile devices, and other IT hardware.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, inventories, policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes to ensure system resilience.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve escalated technical issues and support enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
  • Monitor system performance, anticipate potential issues, and recommend infrastructure improvements.

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Network Engineer for our client, a global leader in seed breeding and production. This is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity, onsite in Woodland, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Network Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining our enterprise network, servers, operating systems, and communication infrastructure across all regional locations. You must be a self-motivated problem solver with a passion for establishing and maintaining a stable network infrastructure. The Network Engineer must ensure the security, integrity, and high availability of core systems and infrastructure. This includes developing, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure to support the business operations. Key components such as software, hardware, cybersecurity tools, and data storage systems are essential to preserving seamless and secure connectivity across the enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours or weekend support as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
