Job summary

Fortinet, Inc. in Sunnyvale, California, is seeking a beginner-to-intermediate Network Engineer to provide 24x7 network support as part of our growing IT team.

Based at Fortinet Headquarters, you will help deploy and maintain Fortinet network devices and ensure reliable connectivity across global offices. Responsibilities include deploying new networks, configuring FortiGate and FortiSwitch, documenting topologies, and supporting on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• AA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent education and experience).
• Fortinet NSE 4 certification is a requirement for this position.
• Experience with network devices installation and network physical connections.
• Excellent English oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Deploy new communication network for Fortinet offices within the USA under guidance of senior network engineers.
• Initial configurations of FortiGate, FortiSwitch and related devices.
• Install and upgrade network hardware; configure firewall policies.
• Document and update network topologies; order devices and manage cabling.
• Respond to and troubleshoot first-level support requests; coordinate with users.
• participate in on-call rotation and travel within the US as needed.

Job description

This is a newly created position to help meet the IT needs of Fortinet’s rapidly growing workforce. With over 15,000 people worldwide (and growing) and the implementation of new IT systems, we are looking for a beginner-to-intermediate-level Network Engineer to help us ensure 24x7 network support. In this critical role you will be based at Fortinet Headquarters at Sunnyvale, California and support our global distribution of network and server systems. This is an excellent opportunity to join a network security company and utilize the latest systems and equipment to support our network availability.

Responsibilities:

• Work under the guidance of senior network engineers to deploy new communication network for Fortinet current/new offices within the USA.
• Execute initial configurations of Fortigates, FortiSwitches, console servers, network PDUs, monitoring devices, etc.
• Install and upgrade network hardware; configure firewall policies.
• Gathering information, documenting, and updating network topologies.
• Ordering network devices, rack-mounting, and cabling.
• Respond, troubleshoot and resolve first-level support requests
• Coordinates and communicates with users
• Participate in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours
• Travels about 7 times per year within the US to assist with deployment and maintenance of Fortinet offices networks.

Skills and requirements:

• Understanding of networking hardware and infrastructure
• Experience with network devices installation and network physical connections
• Very good understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols
• Fortinet NSE 4 certification is a requirement for this position
• Other certifications in network engineering are a plus
• Strong multi-tasking abilities
• Excellent teamwork, can-do attitude, and communication skills with end-users are essential.
• Excellent English oral and written.

Education:

Earnings for this position are expected to be $89,000 - $140,000. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company’s discretion.
