Job summary

The North Carolina State Board of Elections is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure across agencies. You will manage VPN connectivity, VoIP, and cloud integrations with AWS and Azure in a Cisco/Dell environment.

Strong experience with network monitoring tools (Wireshark, TCPDump) and Linux administration is required, along with the ability to work irregular hours for updates and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field, or an equivalent combination.
• Associate’s degree with 2+ years related networking experience may qualify.
• Experience designing and supporting secure network architectures and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex engineering work to support IT infrastructure including database, server, networking, and architecture.
• Implement network security policies and disaster recovery testing/documentation.

State Board of Elections is the statewide agency that supervises elections administration, enforces campaign finance requirements, and conducts associated investigations. The State Board ensures uniform implementation of state and federal election laws and appoints local officials serving on county boards of elections. The board is composed of 5 individuals appointed by the State Auditor from list of nominees submitted by the chairs of the two political parties having the highest number of registered affiliates.
