This position works collaboratively with program staff, technical teams, and management to translate business needs into effective, reliable technology solutions. The role provides an opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support. The successful candidate will contribute to both existing enterprise systems and new technology solutions while continuing to develop their technical expertise.• Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and enhance Java-based enterprise web applications that support DAQ programs and business operations.• Collaborate with DAQ program staff, application developers, technical teams, and management to understand business needs and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.• Analyze existing applications and business processes to identify opportunities for enhancements, modernization, improved performance, and increased operational efficiency.• Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and develop solutions to maintain the reliability and availability of critical business applications.• Develop and maintain application components that interact with relational databases, web technologies, application servers, and other enterprise systems.• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and application support.• Balance development of new functionality with enhancements, maintenance, and production support for existing applications.• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, development approaches, and technical solutions for compatibility with existing application architecture and organizational standards.• Work with technical and program partners across DAQ, DEQ, DIT, EPA, and other organizations as needed to support application and data needs.• Follow DEQ SDLC standards, application architecture frameworks, security requirements, coding practices, and other established technology standards.About the Division:The Division of Air Quality Application Development Team provides technology solutions that support DAQ's mission, programs, business processes, and data needs.
