Job summary

Core Scientific, a leading provider of infrastructure for high-performance compute, seeks an entry-level Network Engineer to join our on-site IT team in North Carolina. You will help configure devices, monitor performance, and provide first-line support under senior engineers’ guidance.

Join a fast-paced data center environment to build practical networking skills with routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless gear. This is an on-site role with no remote arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and routing protocols.
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking equipment.
  • Internship or hands-on experience in a network support role is a plus.
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent (or actively pursuing) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in configuring, deploying, and maintaining network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and availability; respond to alerts and outages under guidance from senior staff.
  • Provide first-level support for network-related incidents and service requests.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to support ongoing infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance to ensure network reliability.
  • Support inventory management of networking hardware and cabling.
  • Stay informed on basic networking trends and best practices.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Job

Network Engineer assists in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network systems. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals seeking to establish a solid foundation in network engineering within a collaborative IT environment.

Location

This is an fully on site role.


Remote, hybrid, and flexible work arrangements are not available.


Relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the work location.


Travel

Occasional travel may be required as needed.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including laptop computersand smartphones.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and liftup to 50 pounds.


Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some nights and weekends may be required.
