Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Network Engineer II for a contract role based in Greensboro, NC. The engineer will hands-on configure Meraki wireless devices, assist with SD-WAN, FortiGate firewalls, and work with an onsite partner for rack-and-stack.

You will drive improvements across Meraki environments, support DR/testing, and coordinate with vendors/MSP to resolve escalated issues. This is a hybrid, contract position with potential for ongoing projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Experience with Meraki Wireless, SD-WAN and FortiGate Firewalls.
• Experience deploying networks at multiple sites (stores, warehouses, offices).
• CCNP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, and support network and security infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN.
• Implement routing, firewall policies, SD-WAN, and wireless tuning.
• Lead site deployments including circuit turn-up and validation.
• Document configurations and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Job Description

TEKsystems Global Retail customer is looking for an experienced Network engineer. They will need engineering and design experience around Cisco Meraki Wireless, SDwan and Fortigate Firewalls. They have roughly 90 retails stores and some of the immediate work will involve hands on configuration of the Meraki wireless devices and shipping Out to the stores. From there, they will work with an onsite partner who does the physical rack and stack. Other work will entrail various improvements across their Meraki environment both Wireless and SD-WAN. Additionally modernizing and maintaining their Fortigate Firewall environment.

Network Engineer II

Position Summary

The Network Engineer II is responsible for independent execution, troubleshooting, and optimization of network infrastructure, supporting both operational stability and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently configure, deploy, and support network and security infrastructure
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN environments
• Implement network changes (routing, firewall policies, SD-WAN, wireless tuning)
• Lead site deployments (stores, warehouses, offices) including circuit turn-up and validation
• Analyze network performance and recommend improvements and optimizations
• Support security initiatives (segmentation, NAC, IPS tuning)
• Participate in DR testing and incident response, including root cause analysis
• Work directly with vendors and MSP to resolve escalated issues
• Maintain accurate documentation and configurations
• Provide guidance to Engineer I resources

Skills & Qualifications

• 510 years of hands-on experience

Strong working knowledge of:

• Routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
• Switching (STP, VLANs)
• WAN (MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN)

Experience with:

• Meraki and/or Cisco enterprise networking
• Fortinet firewalls and VPN
• Wireless design and tuning
• SolarWinds or similar monitoring tools
• Azure networking (VNETs, gateways, connectivity)

• CCNP preferred

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
