Job summary

TECHEAD is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a high-performance converged network infrastructure in a DoD-aligned environment. The role emphasizes hands-on design, configuration, and Tier 3 support across routers, switches, and network management tools.

Candidate should have 3+ years of experience in network engineering, a BS in IT or related field, and CompTIA Security+ certification. Willingness to work on-call and occasionally weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent; 4 years related exp may substitute for degree.
• CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Network Design & Engineering: Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure with minimal supervision. Manage daily tasks and upgrade projects for routers, switches, and network management tools.
• Operations & Troubleshooting: Provide day-to-day operational support, including network debugging, diagnosing data troubles, opening trouble tickets, and resolving customer support cases through Tier 3 support.
• Network Modernization: Participate in design and integration of new networks into existing architecture using latest networking technologies.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure DoD/AF/DISA compliance; maintain classified/unclassified topology maps and detailed records for military processes.
• Maintenance & Support: Participate in system maintenance, optimization, and performance activities; be available for 24/7 on-call and occasional weekend work.

Responsible for working on a team to manage, maintain, and secure a high-performance, converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure, ensuring reliable service delivery across operations.

This role focuses on network design, configuration, and Tier 3 operational support with minimal supervision. Operating in alignment with DoD, Air Force, and DISA standards, the position exercises technical leadership to drive network modernization, optimize performance, and manage ongoing upgrade projects across routers, switches, and network management tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Design & Engineering: Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure with minimal supervision. Manage daily operational tasks and ongoing upgrade projects for routers, switches, and network management tools.
• Operations & Troubleshooting: Provide day-to-day operational support, including network debugging, diagnosing data troubles, opening trouble tickets, and resolving customer support cases through Tier 3 support.
• Network Modernization: Participate in the design and integration of new networks into the existing architecture, leveraging the latest networking technologies.
• Compliance & Documentation: Assist in securing network systems to meet all applicable DoD, AF, and DISA compliance standards. Maintain classified and unclassified network topology maps (e.g., Visio) and ensure detailed record-keeping for military processes.
• Maintenance & Support: Participate in system maintenance, optimization, and performance activities. Support emergency operations on a 24/7 as‑needed basis and remain flexible for weekend work as required.

Position Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or an equivalent technical field (4 additional years of directly related experience may substitute for the degree).
• Experience: 3+ years of progressive hands‑on experience in a dedicated network engineering or administration role.
• Clearance: Active Secret security clearance is a plus
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Technical Systems: Hands‑on experience configuring Cisco/Juniper routers and switches, Layer 2 & Layer 3 protocols in a VoIP environment, IPAM/DHCP/DNS/Syslog, and network monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE).
