We’re looking for a highly capable and experienced Senior Network Engineer to help build and operate a scalable, resilient municipal broadband network. This role is critical in supporting the full lifecycle of network operations—from initial design and deployment to ongoing performance monitoring, maintenance, and incident response. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to implement best practices, optimize performance, and drive forward initiatives related to smart cities, digital equity, and future-ready infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of operational ISP infrastructure, including the design and deployment of scalable network architecture and best practices.
  • Collaborate with vendor partners and internal stakeholders to build and optimize a next-generation broadband network.
  • Design, deploy, and support fiber and wireless network components to support smart city initiatives and equitable access.
  • Oversee full lifecycle network operations: planning, provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Configure and support core and access network elements in a service provider or municipal ISP environment.
  • Maintain and optimize transport networks, routing infrastructure, and active components.
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless gear, and optical transport equipment.
  • Respond to and resolve advanced (Level III/IV) network issues, including customer escalations.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to alerts using appropriate tools and systems.
  • Conduct regular software upgrades and maintain device configurations aligned with security and performance standards.
  • Document network topology, configurations, policies, and SOPs to ensure operational transparency and repeatability.
  • Train internal technical and field operations staff on troubleshooting, monitoring, and routine maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with stakeholders and end-users to plan and provision services and expansions.
  • Act as technical lead on infrastructure projects, coordinating efforts between internal teams and external contractors.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance and emergency response as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 4 years of progressive network engineering experience, with 2+ years supporting service provider or ISP-grade networks.
  • Strong hands-on experience with core networking protocols and concepts, including BGP, OSPF, DHCP, VLANs, NAT, and ACLs.
  • Proficiency in configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, and fiber transport equipment.
  • Experience in network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to support emergency and after-hours work as required.
