YETI is hiring a Network Engineer to support its growing IT infrastructure in Austin. You will design, deploy, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, including Cisco Meraki/Catalyst devices and Palo Alto firewalls, while expanding Azure networking, VNet/Subnet configurations and cross‑functional collaboration.

The role requires self‑management, strong vendor/executive communication, and a hands-on, ownership mentality to drive improvements across the network environment.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years maintaining enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure including wireless, firewalls, routers and switches.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN, MPLS, VRF, DMVPN, multicast, load balancing, switching and routing.
• Experience with network security constructs including firewalls, VPNs and proxy.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate current LAN/WAN state and propose roadmap for growth.
• Configure and troubleshoot Palo Alto, Meraki, Catalyst, VPN, and MPLS.
• Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure including cabling, switches, routers, and Wi‑Fi systems.

Job description

YETI is looking for a Network Engineer to support their IT infrastructure and corporate expansion based on the tremendous growth they're experiencing. This involves scalability, performance and security concerns. The Network Engineer plans, designs, and evaluates new and existing computer network systems and services, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support. They are a part of a small team (3 total including them), and will need to be able to self manage often. They will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks and need to be the type of person that is always looking for the next thing they can do to help the team.

Candidates need to have experience managing, deploying, and troubleshooting Cisco devices. They heavily use Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Meraki, so candidates either need experience with these tools or similar Cisco devices that will allow them to get up to speed quickly. They also need to have experience managing and configuring Palo Alto Firewalls or similar devices. YETI is a heavy Azure shop with a little bit of GCP in the mix. Candidates must have experience working with Microsoft Azure. They should be comfortable setting up VNets, Subnets, integrating with other platforms like Palo Alto, troubleshooting Azure networks, and have an overall comfortability with the platform itself. They will also be working with cross functional teams and need to be able to effectively communicate with vendors and executives.

It is not uncommon for this person to have to assist with escalations from other support teams, so they should be comfortable handling tasks that may be done by another team at a larger organization. This could include getting up on a ladder and changing out WAP's, it could include cabling, rack and stack, etc. This person will be the boots on the ground in the HQ and is responsible for maintaining connectivity and troubleshooting any outages that may occur.

Previous Engineers in this role have needed to get up to speed on a lot of the technology that they use, and have required extensive coaching to be effective in the role. They need someone that wont require much hand holding and who can hit the ground running as the two leads on the team are often double booked. YETI also looks for candidates that want to go above and beyond and value an ownership mentality. Candidates should be excited about the opportunity to make an impact to the overall business and regularly looking for areas they can act as a SME, own something, or make overall improvements. There is always work to be done, so nobody should ever find themselves bored in this role. There is always someone that can be helped or something that can be learned to better master the environment.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and assess "current state" of LAN/WAN environment and propose roadmap to handle future growth
• Identify and implement networking 'best practices' to ensure optimal network performance, availability and scalability
• Configure and troubleshoot existing network devices including Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst, VPN, and MPLS (Level 3)
• Assess current network security posture and implement hardening solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, Identity and Access management.
• Implements, maintains and troubleshoots the LAN/WAN Infrastructure including; physical cabling, switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi systems
• Deploys and supports new software releases, system upgrades, and patches for the network infrastructure environment
• Maintain knowledge of vendor products (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Palo Alto) and solutions that can enable the Network Engineering team to diagnose complex issues, build redundancy and resiliency along with assisting them with planning for the future capacity and technology growth of the network
• Develops and maintains technical procedure documentation and network infrastructure diagrams and reviews projects / systems designs and plans for compliance with standards
• Proactively work to reduce costs and improve productivity (continuous improvement) for Network Engineering and Support platforms
• Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
• Ensure the network architecture addresses high availability and performance of mission critical platforms and network resources with the guidance of Sr. Network Engineers
• Identify opportunities and for improvement in efficiency and responsiveness. Make recommendations and champion implementations that gain efficiencies and improve effectiveness.
• Understand the needs of various business functions and end users, and the priorities of information security and management and define solutions to support these
• Assists as needed with any IT related projects as determined by IT Management
• Respond to off-hour alerts, calls, e-mails or notifications to ensure operational efficiency and uptime
• Design, implement and maintain a US based retail and global network infrastructure
• Monitor and administer carrier diverse circuits utilizing BGP for fault tolerance

Qualifications and Attributes:

• At least 4 years of experience specifically maintaining enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure Wireless, Firewalls, Routers Switches, Controllers
• At least 2 years of experience of Networking technologies including SD-WAN, MPLS, VRF, DMVPN, multicast, load balancing, switching and routing technologies
• Knowledge and experience of Network security constructs and capabilities including Layer 3 and Layer 7 firewalls, IPS, VPN, and Proxy
• Knowledge and experience of hosting technologies including: Hyper-converged infrastructure, Converged Infrastructure, VMware virtualization, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and Windows Server OS
• Knowledge and experience with supporting infrastructure service technologies including Active Directory, AzureAD, DNS, DHCP, NTP, file and printing services
• Experience with developing scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and metrics collection
• Experience with various tools such as Protocol Analyzer, SNMP, Netflow, IPAM, RADIUS, Insight IDR/Splunk, and load/stress testing
• Expertise in Azure or other cloud providing technologies
• Direct experience with Palo Alto, Aruba, and Meraki is a plus
• Experience documenting network knowledge base and operational runbooks
• Experience deploying SD-WAN infrastructure is a plus
• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
• Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
• Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
• Team player with the ability to work with all levels of staff within/outside of IT and outside the organization
• A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
