The Network/Communications Specialist serves on a team of technology staff to provide direct customer support, management of district servers, storage devices, network devices, programming of district utilities and programs, phone system and other technology related systems and services in such a way as to provide optimal computer and communication services for all district computers and other technology devices. Will collaborate with the Network Manager as well as other district stakeholders to establish and successfully implement district-level technology initiatives. Act as a resource for users and fellow staff by successfully developing, implementing, and supporting servers, network, databases, and web-based applications.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate degree or Vocational training in Information Systems or Network Engineering field or 3 years directly related experience specializing in network and/or system administration.
  • Current technical certifications for Microsoft servers and networking preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, attend to detail, and follow through on a variety of assigned tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to upgrade skills to maintain the highest level of efficiency and high-quality work.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with End Users and IT Staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service techniques (via telephone, email, electronic help desk and in person).
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to interact with students, parents, staff, and community members, personally and through electronic communications, in a warm and confident manner.
  • Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision-making capabilities are essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all school and personnel matters.
  • Ability to maintain regular, in-person physical presence at the assigned work location during scheduled work hours.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
