Job description

Sage is on a mission to improve care and quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. And yet, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. Our company mission is to create a product that our client counterparts love, and this role is a key part of that objective.

Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs. We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission. At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint. The journey matters.

About This Role

As a Network Cabling Project Manager at Sage, you will oversee and manage the planning, installation, and maintenance of network cabling systems. Leveraging your deep understanding of network infrastructure, cabling best practices, and strong project management skills, you will lead external team(s) of contractors. Your goal will be to ensure that all network cabling projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

This is a heavily traveled, client-facing role. Network Cabling Project Managers travel an average of 15 business days per month. During periods of high customer onboarding activity, this number can go higher. Candidates should go into this process with a clear, realistic expectation of that schedule. This isn't occasional travel; it's the core rhythm of the job.

Some examples of the work you'll be doing on any given day include:
  • Project Planning & Management:
  • Oversee end-to-end management of network cabling projects, including initial planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT departments, engineers, and vendors, to define project scope and requirements.
  • Develop detailed project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring clear communication of expectations to all parties involved.
  • Travel to various communities (domestic)
  • Cabling Design & Implementation:Lead the design and implementation of network cabling layouts, ensuring adherence to industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA-568, ANSI/BICSI standards).
  • Conduct site surveys to assess environmental factors and provide recommendations for optimal cabling designs.
  • Manage the installation, termination, and testing of various types of cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics).
  • Manage and coordinate on-site teams of cabling technicians and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to team members, promoting best practices in cabling installation and troubleshooting.
  • Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Ensure all work meets regulatory and industry compliance standards, including local codes and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the testing and certification of completed cabling systems, ensuring that performance meets network requirements (e.g., signal integrity, data transmission rates).
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
  • Identify and resolve any issues or obstacles that arise during the cabling installation process, providing timely solutions to avoid delays.
  • Manage and address any post-installation problems or service requests related to cabling infrastructure.
  • Work closely with third‑party vendors and suppliers to procure materials, tools, and equipment for cabling projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns or changes in scope.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all project‑related activities, including design diagrams, work orders, and change orders.
  • Prepare regular project progress reports and ensure all documentation is up‑to‑date for future reference or audits.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel and perform cabling work over 75% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in network cabling, infrastructure design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing and overseeing network cabling installation projects, including team leadership.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites or server rooms.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting materials, and performing site inspections.
  • On call support required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with fiber optic cabling and installations.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure planning and design, including switches, routers, and servers.
  • Familiarity with cable management systems and troubleshooting tools.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to support network cabling design and installation.
