Job summary

The Network Analyst at The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s network infrastructure and telecommunications systems. You will work across LAN, WLAN, WAN, and internet connectivity, implementing secure, high-performing networking solutions in a mission-driven environment.

Ideal candidates have strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with enterprise networks, and familiarity with Cisco, Aruba, Palo

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-7 years hands-on enterprise networking experience.
  • Experience supporting medium to large-scale network environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience with Cisco/Aruba/Palo Alto/Fortinet or similar technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, administer, and optimize cybersecurity controls, including firewalls and security appliances.
  • Maintain LAN, WLAN, WAN, and internet connectivity across locations.
  • Perform day-to-day network administration: switch management, VLAN configuration, IP addressing, routing, troubleshooting.
  • Respond to network incidents with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Participate in on-call support, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Configure routing protocols including static routing, OSPF, BGP, and policy-based routing.
  • Maintain IP schemes, subnetting, routing tables, and segmentation strategies.
  • Assist with WAN connectivity and remote site networking support.
  • Support enterprise wireless infrastructure, controllers, access points, guest networks, wireless security.
  • Analyze wireless performance and coverage; propose improvements.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues impacting users/devices.
  • Implement network security controls including ACLs, segmentation, VPN, secure access.
  • Partner with Information Security to support cybersecurity initiatives and compliance.
  • Assist remediation of vulnerabilities identified via assessments or audits.
  • Maintain network diagrams, inventory, documentation, and procedures.
  • Use monitoring tools to identify issues and optimize performance.
  • Suggest improvements to network architecture, reliability, scalability.

SALARY: $95,000 - $105,000 per year


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Network Analyst is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the organization's network infrastructure and telecommunications systems. This role provides hands-on support for Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networking technologies across wired, wireless, and WAN environments. The Network Analyst works closely with infrastructure, security, and service desk teams to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing network services that support business operations.


This position is ideal for an experienced networking professional with strong troubleshooting skills, practical knowledge of enterprise networking topologies, and the ability to implement and maintain network solutions in a complex, mission-driven environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, administer, and optimize cybersecurity controls, including firewalls, and security appliances.
  • Monitor, maintain, and support the organization's local area networks (LAN), wireless networks (WLAN), wide area networks (WAN), and internet connectivity.
  • Perform day-to-day network administration activities, including switch management, VLAN configuration, IP addressing, routing, and network troubleshooting.
  • Respond to network incidents and service disruptions, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in on-call support, major upgrades, and maintenance activities as required.
  • Configure and support routing protocols and technologies, including static routing, OSPF, BGP, and policy-based routing where applicable.
  • Maintain IP addressing schemes, subnetting, routing tables, and network segmentation strategies.
  • Assist with WAN connectivity and remote site networking support.
  • Support enterprise wireless infrastructure, including wireless controllers, access points, guest networks, and wireless security configurations.
  • Analyze wireless performance and coverage, recommending improvements when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues impacting users and devices.
  • Implement and maintain network security controls including ACLs, network segmentation, VPN connectivity, and secure access practices.
  • Partner with Information Security personnel to support cybersecurity initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with remediation of network vulnerabilities identified through assessments or audits.
  • Maintain network diagrams, inventory records, configuration documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Utilize network monitoring and management tools to proactively identify issues and optimize performance.
  • Recommend improvements to network architecture, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects involving network upgrades, expansions, and technology refreshes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networking concepts.
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and subnetting.
  • VLANs, STP, trunking, and switching technologies.
  • Routing protocols and enterprise routing concepts.
  • Wireless networking technologies and troubleshooting.
  • Structured cabling and physical network infrastructure demarcation.
  • Network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • VPN technologies and remote access connectivity.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Cisco Catalyst switching.
  • Aruba switching and wireless solutions.
  • Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls.
  • Network automation and scripting using PowerShell or Python.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.

REQUIRED SUPPORT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL EVENTS

  • Participate in the Annual 5K Fundraiser and 9/11 Commemoration, as assigned.
  • Assist with other special projects and events in support of 9/11 Memorial & Museum, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • 3-7 years of hands-on enterprise networking experience.
  • Experience supporting medium to large-scale network environments with multiple locations, wireless networks, and internet connectivity.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or comparable enterprise networking technologies.
  • Experience working with network monitoring and management platforms.
