Job summary

Meriplex is seeking a Network Administrator to manage day-to-day network operations and provide troubleshooting support. You will interact with customers, service providers and staff, ensuring network availability and performance across multiple platforms.

The role involves on-going configurations, circuit activations, onboarding of managed services, and documentation updates. 3+ years of hands-on network experience and strong SQL/Windows knowledge are required.

Job description

Network Administrator reports to the Director, Managed Services and works directly with customers to provide day-to-day network administration and troubleshooting support. This position also occasionally participates in other areas and projects, such as circuit activations, managed services onboarding, and performing configurations, installations, and upgrades on customer contracts.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for customer, service provider and internal staff interaction.
  • Monitor and maintain operating systems, network configurations, software applications, and hardware.
  • Administer and monitor system availability and performance tools.
  • Add and enhance monitoring objects for SNMP and various systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
  • Solve or document and further escalated issues as needed.
  • Update and create internal articles and/or documentation.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers.
  • Trouble shoot equipment connectivity and perform layer 1-3 troubleshooting.
  • Perform loop testing to determine and isolate problems on the path.
  • Provide technical support to internal staff as well as external customers.

Education / Experience
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible, hands‑on operations experience in a high availability network and data center environment.
  • SQL Server administration and/or management experience.
  • Significant experience with IIS, Active Directory, Windows networking administration, and knowledge of web technologies.
  • Linux administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Windows operating systems for servers and workstations, including Windows Server 2008.
  • VB and batch scripting experience.
  • Working Knowledge and Understanding of DNS.
Certifications
  • Networking, Microsoft, and VMWare certification preferred.
