Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a Network Administrator (Telecommunications Specialist) to oversee the networks for two data centers, our Home Office campus, and branch offices in Michigan.

The role requires IOS/NX-OS, routing protocols, VoIP, and data center knowledge, with emphasis on reliability, security, and vendor collaboration. The IT Division offers growth opportunities and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Networking Systems.
• Experience with IOS, NX-OS and dynamic routing protocols.
• Data Center knowledge and VoIP experience.
• Familiarity with firewalls, IPS/IDS and WAN acceleration devices.
• Knowledge of TACACS, NAC, Cisco ACI and Cisco ISE.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot network equipment or connection issues (Routers, Layer 2 and 3 switches, WAN acceleration devices, firewalls, etc).
• Plan, coordinate and implement network equipment upgrades
• Serve as the point of contact for contracted companies servicing remote branches
• Convey ideas to multiple audiences
• Provide proposals and recommendations for network enhancements
• Perform occasional maintenance or upgrades outside of normal business hours
• Administer voice systems

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated individual to join our IT Division as a Network Administrator (Telecommunications Specialist). This role handles the administration of the networks for two data centers, our Home Office campus, and branch offices.

Responsibilities

• Trubleshoot network equipment or connection issues (Routers, Layer 2 and 3 switches, WAN acceleration devices, firewalls, etc)
• Plan, coordinate and implement network equipment upgrades
• Serve as the point of contact for contracted companies servicing remote branches
• Convey ideas to multiple audiences
• Provide proposals and recommendations for network enhancements
• Perform occasional maintenance or upgrades outside of normal business hours

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer‑related field with a focus in Networking Systems or equivalent experience
• Experience with IOS, NX-OS, Dynamic Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
• Data Center knowledge (VDC, VPC, Port‑Channeling, HSRP, Spanning Tree, etc.)
• VoIP Phone System experience (PRI, SIP, CUBE)
• Experience with Communications Collaboration Product Suites (Voicemail, Instant Messaging)
• Knowledge of Firewalls, IPS, IDS
• Experience with WAN acceleration devices
• Experience with TACACS, NAC, Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE
• Network administration certifications or equivalent work experience preferred
• Great customer service skills, effective communication and coordination skills, and self‑motivation
