ARAG North America, Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Network Administrator to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance network operations. You will monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premises devices and support zero-trust security measures.

You will collaborate with the Technology Innovation Group, participate in disaster recovery, manage server tasks as needed, and document topologies and configurations to keep systems running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent IT/CS experience.
  • 3+ years of network administration experience.
  • On-site in Des Moines, IA during core IT hours and on-call support.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot on-prem network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, APs).
  • Assist in network configuration and upgrades, patching, firmware updates.
  • Document network topologies, configurations, and procedures.
  • Support zero trust security with access controls.
  • Respond to incidents as needed.
  • Collaborate with TIG to resolve connectivity issues and optimize performance.
  • Participate in backup and disaster recovery for network devices.
  • Engage in basic server management tasks (user accounts, permissions).
  • Maintain network documentation and asset inventory.
  • Follow change management for updates and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with vendors/service providers to troubleshoot issues.
  • Represent ARAG positively at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Purpose

ARAG is hiring a Network Administrator! This person supports the reliability, security, and performance of ARAG's network infrastructure while partnering with IT team members to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and maintain smooth business operations. Strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement are essential for success in this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots on-premises network hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. Including:

    • Provides onsite hardware and network maintenance at primary and secondary datacenter locations

    • Assists in network configuration and upgrades, including patching and firmware updates

    • Documents network topologies, configurations, and procedures

    • Supports zero trust network security by implementing and monitoring access controls

    • Responds to incidents when necessary



  • Works closely with Technology Innovation Group (TIG) team members to resolve connectivity issues and optimize network performance

  • Participates in regular backup and disaster recovery operations for network devices

  • Engages in basic server management tasks as needed, including user account provisioning and permission changes

  • Maintains network documentation, diagrams, configuration backups, and asset inventory

  • Follows change management processes for network updates, upgrades, and maintenance activities

  • Coordinates with vendors and service providers to troubleshoot issues and support network reliability

  • Serves as a positive role model by representing ARAG at its Best.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Knowledge



  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, LAN/WAN concepts, and common network protocols

  • Hands-on experience with on-premises network devices and troubleshooting tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of firewall, VPN, wireless, routing, and switching concepts

  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools, logging, alerting, and documentation practices


Skills



  • Experience with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems and environments.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and hardware issues

  • Experience with network load balancing technology and concepts

  • Business management skills including vendor relations.

  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, organization, time management and communication skills.

  • Exposure to cloud computing infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).

  • Availability to be on site (in Des Moines office) during core IT hours (currently 9:00 am – 3:00 pm).

  • Availability to work during off peak work hours when necessary to ensure smooth operations during office hours – including on-call support 24x7.


Education



  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of related experience.
