Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Irvine, CA seeks a COBOL developer to build and maintain financial/legacy systems using Fujitsu NetCOBOL, analyze requirements, and translate them into functional solutions.

You will design, code, test, and deploy COBOL programs, optimize SQL, and develop Unix/Linux scripts for automation, monitoring, and file processing. Join a team driving modernization initiatives and contribute to technical documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent is required.
Experience with COBOL development and SQL database objects is expected.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and scripting is required.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Fujitsu NeTCOBOL.
Analyze requirements and translate them into functional solutions.
Design, code, test, and deploy COBOL programs and batch processes.
Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and procedures.
Create and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation and monitoring.
Provide production support and participate in code reviews.
Collaborate on modernization and migration initiatives and document knowledge transfer.
