Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Irvine, CA seeks a COBOL developer to build and maintain financial/legacy systems using Fujitsu NetCOBOL, analyze requirements, and translate them into functional solutions.

You will design, code, test, and deploy COBOL programs, optimize SQL, and develop Unix/Linux scripts for automation, monitoring, and file processing. Join a team driving modernization initiatives and contribute to technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent is required.
• Experience with COBOL development and SQL database objects is expected.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and scripting is required.

• Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Fujitsu NeTCOBOL.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into functional solutions.
• Design, code, test, and deploy COBOL programs and batch processes.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Create and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation, scheduling, monitoring, and file processing.
• Perform system integration, defect analysis, root-cause investigation, and production support.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during application modernization and migration initiatives.
• Prepare technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
