Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to lead acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high-voltage power systems. You will analyze test results, generate comprehensive reports, and mentor junior technicians.

This role requires 7+ years of HV testing, NETA certifications, and travel up to 75%. A strong background with protective relays and calibration of test equipment is essential for success in fast-paced projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (current and in good standing).
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers and switchgear.
• Interpret test results; author engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field; serve as technical lead on projects.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
