Job summary

Vertiv (ERS / HVM) is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on high-voltage equipment up to 500kV. Travel is up to 75% for regional and national projects, with a compensation structure linked to certification level and experience.

You will interpret test data, write engineering reports, mentor technicians, and lead multi-discipline teams while upholding NFPA 70E and OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with listed test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF).
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
