Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on electrical distribution systems at customer sites in the Irving, TX area. The role involves traveling to industrial and commercial sites to test, troubleshoot and collect data on HV equipment and switchgear.

Minimum qualifications include 2+ years of relevant testing experience, NETA certification preferred, and the ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

Qualifications

• ABET/EPC or military-equivalent education is preferred.
• NETA Certification I–IV or similar is desired.
• 2+ years of switchgear testing and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Ability to read and communicate in English fluently.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% and work variable hours.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data.
• Perform field tests on low, medium and high voltage systems (up to 600 kV).
• Conduct instrument transformer and power transformer tests.
• Test relays, cables and switchgear; coordinate with customers on site.
• Calibrate relays and monitor power metering; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain safety procedures and use PPE; stay alert for hazards.
