Job summary

BCforward is seeking a .NET Developer to join our Chicago team for a 12-month contract, onsite. The ideal candidate will work across .NET, Java, and AWS-driven modernization projects, focusing on cloud-native architectures and scalable solutions.

You will collaborate with agile feature teams, migrate databases to AWS, and help rehost or refactor legacy applications while ensuring security and monitoring best practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with .NET Framework/Core including ASP.NET Web API and Windows Services.
• Knowledge of monolithic and microservices architectures and refactoring of legacy apps.
• Experience migrating SQL Server databases to AWS services (RDS/EC2) and validating data migration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on agile feature teams to modernize .NET, MS SQL Server, C#, and Java apps.
• Migrate and modernize apps using AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) and cloud-native patterns.
• Analyze code/data across .NET, Java, and SQL Server to identify optimization opportunities.
• Design and implement scalable solutions using .NET, Java, and AWS with secure, automated deployments.
• Contribute to containerized apps with Kubernetes and AWS ECS/EKS; use IaC with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Support end-to-end migration and modernization efforts for on-premises and cloud-based apps.

Job Description

We are seeking a Microsoft Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in .Net, AAWS, SQL, Java and development of containerized applications.

Responsibilities:

• Engineer will work closely on agile feature teams projects related to .NET, MS SQL Server, C#, and Java to analyze and develop solutions for modernization of SQL Jobs, stored procedures, and application code to more modern design and tool sets, including cloud-based architectures.


• Collaborate on migration and modernization initiatives, leveraging AWS Cloud services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch) to rehost, replatform, or refactor legacy applications and databases.


• Analyze existing code and data (across .NET, Java, and SQL Server) to identify opportunities for process improvement, performance optimization, and modernization.


• Design, develop, and implement scalable solutions using .NET, Java and AWS, ensuring best practices in cloud security, automation, and monitoring.


• Participate in the development and deployment of containerized applications (using Kubernetes and AWS ECS/EKS) and infrastructure as code (using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform).


• Contribute to agile feature teams by providing expertise in both on-premises and cloud-based application development, supporting end-to-end migration and modernization efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NET Framework/Core: Proficiency in .NET (Framework and/or Core), including ASP.NET, Web API, and Windows Services.
  
  
  • Application Architecture: Understanding of monolithic vs. microservices architectures, and experience with refactoring or modernizing legacy .NET applications.
  
  
  • Database Migration: Skills in migrating SQL Server databases to AWS RDS for SQL Server or Amazon EC2, including schema conversion, data migration, and validation.
  
  
  
  


• Cloud Fundamentals:
  
  
  
  • Understanding of AWS Core Services: Experience with EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Lambda.
  
  
  • Familiarity with AWS Migration Tools: Knowledge of AWS Migration Hub, AWS Application Migration Service, Database Migration Service (DMS), and Server Migration Service (SMS).
