Job summary

Pennant Solutions Group in Richmond, VA is seeking a NET API Developer for an onsite 12-month contract. You will develop, test, and maintain web applications and RESTful APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core.

You'll analyze legacy code, integrate with SQL Server, and manage Azure-hosted deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and security patterns. The role requires strong problem-solving, independent work, and clear communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing web apps and APIs with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core.
• Experience with RESTful API design, JSON, HTTP methods and auth patterns.
• Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills and database development.
• Git-based source control, code reviews and disciplined software development processes.
• Familiarity with Azure-hosted app environments and cloud configuration management.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with legacy codebases and problem-solving in unfamiliar codebases.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot web applications and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and related Microsoft technologies.
• Analyze existing application code, technical documentation, database objects, and integration points to implement enhancements, resolve defects, and improve reliability.
• Produce clean, secure, readable, and maintainable code that follows established development standards, architecture patterns, and source-control practices.
• Build and support API endpoints, including request validation, authentication and authorization, error handling, logging, versioning, and integration with internal or external services.
• Work independently to investigate complex technical issues, determine root causes, propose practical solutions, and communicate progress and risks to project stakeholders.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, testing, deployment planning, and change-management activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for application components, APIs, configuration settings, deployment procedures, and operational support needs.
