Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Denton, TX seeks a Nester/Drafter to create template drawings, optimize nesting, support plasma cutting operations, and manage production documentation. You will bridge engineering drawings, customer needs, inventory, and manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have CAD experience, strong math skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple departments to ensure on-time production and continuous improvement in material utilization

Qualifications

• Read and interpret customer drawings, blueprints and fabrication documents.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and understanding of geometric relationships.
• Experience with CAD software in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate template and component drawings utilizing RADAN software.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to production-ready drawings.
• Review designs for manufacturability and identify production concerns before release.
• Create optimized nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
• Generate burn sheets, machine files, and production documentation for plasma cutting operations.
• Maintain plate inventory logs and material consumption records.
• Perform daily inventory reconciliation and month-end updates.
• Update material usage and plate weights within ERP systems.
• Review burn sheets and confirm production activity in company systems.
• Work with Production, Quality, Project Management, Scheduling, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity and efficiency.
• Maintain records per Quality Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
