Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineering Manager for NERC compliance on utility-scale renewables projects, with emphasis on inverter-based resources like PV, BESS, and hybrids. You will lead studies, coordinate with utilities and ISOs, and guide teams from design through energization.

You’ll work with preconstruction, design management, performance engineering, and commissioning to ensure reliability, grid integration, and proper documentation of compliance evidence.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• 8+ years in power systems engineering, including renewables/IBR exposure.
• Experience with NERC standards and EMT modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support NERC compliance activities for McCarthy built renewable facilities, focusing on applicable PRC/MOD/TP L/FAC standards for IBRs and MV/HV systems.
• Plan, review, and document studies for NERC compliance (PRC019/024/025/026/027; MOD025/026/027/032).
• Develop or review models of PV, BESS, and hybrid plants using PSCAD or equivalent.
• Evaluate IBR ride-through and reactive performance; track corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Protection & Control, SCADA, and substation engineering for protection settings and plant controls.
• Review test plans and results during commissioning and energization; capture compliance evidence.
