Job summary

The Nephrology Physician position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) - Veterans Health Administration (VHA) at Fayetteville NC VA Health Care System. The nephrologist will provide comprehensive nephrology care to Veterans in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring high-quality, timely, patient-centered services that meet Joint Commission and VA standards.

The role includes staffing outpatient nephrology clinics, inpatient consults, and teaching duties as needed,

Qualifications

• US citizenship required or eligible under VA policy.
• MD/DO degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
• Completion of an approved residency in a core specialty.
• Board certification preferred for faculty status; PRPs may be exempt.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nephrology care in inpatient and outpatient settings to Veterans.
• Ensure high-quality, timely, patient-centered services meeting VA standards.
• Staff outpatient nephrology clinics and provide inpatient consultations.
• Document progress notes and orders accurately in the EHR.
• Maintain nephrology equipment and adhere to safety and infection control standards.
• Participate in performance improvement, quality and safety reviews, and CME activities.
