Neonatologist openings in Iowa
Join a thriving team of 2 board-certified MFM physicians and 1 perinatal APP at an expanding practice with a large referral base. Strong support from experienced staff includes 2 genetic counselors, 6 perinatal nurses, and 9 fetal echo-certified sonographers. The practice features a Level IIIB NICU, one of two Children's Hospitals and Level I Trauma Centers in Iowa. The clinic is modern and fully equipped, adjacent to the hospital, with GE E-10 ultrasound machines, integrated GE ViewPoint, and EPIC EMR. The position is consultative only, with no delivery requirements. Enjoy a 4-day work week with administrative time and call 1:3 with a new physician.
This full-time, permanent position involves working in a hospital NICU that cares for both term and preterm infants in a 22-bed AAP Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The team includes 3 neonatologists and 6 nurse practitioners providing 24/7 in-house coverage. The practice handles non-surgical patients of all gestations and is a regional hub for northeastern Iowa. It offers high-frequency ventilation, inhaled Nitric Oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, and specialized transport services. The role includes collaborative, evidence-based, family-centered care, procedures such as PICC placement, lumbar puncture, intubation, and umbilical lines, and participation in teaching and quality improvement initiatives. The schedule rotates among physicians, with holidays on a rotation, and uses EPIC EMR for care coordination.
Join 3 physicians and 3 NPs in this employment opportunity, caring for an average of 2-8 patients daily, primarily for infants 30 weeks GA and up. The position involves 24/7 call support, with no in-house night call supported by NNPs, and minimal solo night call. The work schedule is flexible—7 days on, 7-14 days off, totaling only 20 weeks per year. The practice is part of the Vermont Oxford Network (VON) and has a newly expanded NICU with single-family rooms. Fully integrated EMR systems (NeoData and EPIC) support care coordination. Pediatric subspecialties and MFM services are available via telemedicine.
