Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology. You will provide inpatient care in a Level-3 NICU and collaborate with neonatologists, fellows, residents, and other APPs.

The role involves managing deliveries, performing neonatal procedures, and transporting critically ill neonates.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as Illinois RN and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant.
• MS or higher degree with appropriate clinical specialty.
• Certification by ANCC or AANP.
• Active DEA license and Rush clinical privileges.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience treating patients of all ages.
• Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D).

Responsibilities

• Attendance and management in the delivery room.

• 10‑hour day shifts, 16‑hour overnight shifts (4 pm–8 am), and optional 24‑hour shifts.

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology. This role involves caring for critically ill infants, ranging from extremely preterm to complex surgical needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with neonatologists, fellows, residents, and other Advanced Practice Providers.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Attendance and management in the delivery room.
• Direct patient care, neonatal procedures, and neonatal transport.
• Schedule includes 10‑hour day shifts, 16‑hour overnight shifts (4 pm–8 am), and optional 24‑hour shifts.
• Reports to the two NICU co‑Lead APPs.
• 100 % inpatient work in a Level‑3, 72‑bed Renée Schine Crown NICU.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in neonatology.
• Acute Care Certification for APRN candidates.

Position Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner

• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in Illinois.
• Master of Science or higher with appropriate clinical specialty.
• Current certification by ANCC or AANP.
• Active DEA license and Rush clinical privileges (RUMC, ROPH, RCMC).
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience treating patients of all ages.
• Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D).

• Physician Assistant

• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant/Associate in Illinois.
• Successful completion of an accredited PA program.
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Active Rush clinical privileges (RUMC, ROPH, RCMC).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience treating patients of all ages.
• Procedural experience (simple laceration repair, I&D).

Compensation

Pay range: $144,000 – $203,000 per year with potential bonuses and incentive programs.
