Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center’s SOM-Peds-Neonatology division seeks a Neonatologist (PRN) for Tupelo, in the Department of Pediatrics. The role requires leadership in acute neonatal care and coordination of clinic and hospital-based services.

You will provide 24-hour care, supervise nursing and medical staff, order labs and imaging, and participate in after-hours call rotations, while adhering to UMMC policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine.
• Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Mississippi.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive medical care for the inmate population of the Mississippi department of corrections.
• Supervises and directs subordinates, such as licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, nurse assistants, lab and radiology personnel, and other medical staff in the care and treatment of patients.
• Requests necessary laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment.
• Requests necessary radiographic studies for diagnosis and treatment; available for rotational call schedule to address after-hour emergencies.
• Adherence to all pertinent policies and procedures of U.M.M.C and M.D.O.C.; performs tasks to maintain high standards of clinical operation and patient care.
• Organizes and conducts general or specialized diagnostic and/or treatment clinics.
• Renders consultative services in health matters to staff, public officials, health agencies, committees, and professional groups.
• Plans and conducts control and treatment programs, including epidemiologic investigations.
• Organizes, conducts, and supervises chronic care clinics and treatment programs.
• Encourages and emphasizes health education; prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
