Job Description

Provide all emergency neonatal services required without assistance or supplementation by other MTF physicians. Adequately diagnose and treat diseases/injuries; perform medical procedures/tasks to include, but not limited to the following:

• Provide acute and chronic inpatient medical care for neonatal patients in the NSU.
• Expedite care and facilitate consultation of complex patients to multiple specialties as needed.
• Attend periodic onsite meetings for complicated obstetric patients (COB), the Perinatal Advisory Board (PAB), and Code Purple drill planning meetings.
• Respond to Code Purple: an emergency response called 24/7 to support OB and/or neonatal emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects.
• Diagnose and treat critically ill newborns.
• Coordinate care and medically manage premature, critically ill, or surgical newborns.
• Ensure appropriate nutrition for growth and development of critically ill newborns.
• Provide advanced resuscitation at delivery requiring cesarean or other procedures.
• Stabilize and treat life-threatening conditions.
• Educate and counsel parents about their baby’s condition.
• Collaborate with pediatricians and specialists for comprehensive care.
• Conduct follow-up visits to monitor progress.
• Examine and diagnose medical conditions in newborns.
• Develop treatment plans and communicate with parents and caregivers.
• Manage NICU care and perform necessary procedures.
