Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin seeks a Medical Technologist II to perform highly complex immunofluorometric testing for neonatal screening. You will handle specimen preparation, data entry, QC procedures, and instrument maintenance while adhering to SOPs and safety guidelines.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s level degree in a clinical laboratory science field and are comfortable with rotating weekend shifts and occasional telework options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Experience with highly complex immunoassay testing and neonatal screening is preferred.
• Willingness to work varied hours, including Saturdays on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly complex immunofluorometric analyses (IRT, 17-OHP, T4, TSH, Galt) on neonatal specimens.
• Prepare samples, run quality control, and maintain documentation and equipment.
• Interpret data, manage worklists, and ensure test accuracy per SOPs.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance of equipment and assist in safety programs.
• Collaborate with team and adapt to flexible shifts, including weekend work.
