Job summary

DSHS Austin lab seeks a Clinical Lab Chemist to independently perform LC-MS/MS and MS/MS analyses on newborn screening specimens, with emphasis on sample preparation, QC, and data interpretation.

The role requires meticulous documentation, safe handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to protocols. Weekend shift differential applies; regular Saturdays work. Strong teamwork and record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• Education – bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a U.S. accredited college or university.
• Experience with analysis of human samples using complex analytical techniques is preferred.
• Experience with MS/MS and LC-MS/MS instrumentation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule per agency policy.
• Performs high-volume MS/MS and LC-MS/MS analysis on neonatal specimens following SOPs.
• Maintains records and documentation of analytical testing and specimen flow.
