• Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP certifications are required.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Nemours Neonatology team is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Level IV NICU in Wilmington, Delaware. The NICU will house 46 beds following a 14‑room expansion and offers the flexibility of part‑time or moonlighting hours. Rotating shifts, including holiday coverage, are required. This is a clinical position in a high‑tech, 24‑hour neonatal intensive care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages and provides care for patients requiring neonatal intensive care under the supervision of an attending neonatologist.
• Receives distressed neonates in the delivery room and initiates appropriate interventions.
• Performs a complete newborn physical examination and assessment of gestational age.
• Conducts parent interviews and takes family history.
• Collaborates with neonatologists regarding historical events, physical findings, diagnostics, and therapeutics for all admissions.
• Orders laboratory tests and procedures and performs diagnostic and therapeutic bedside procedures as needed.
• Provides general neonatal care such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
• Participates in daily NICU rounds.
• Requires rotating shifts and holiday commitments.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience as a Neonatal NP or Physician Assistant.
• Neonatal NP: Current unrestricted Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license in Delaware, neonatal NP certification via the National Certification Center, and BLS/NRP certification upon hire.
• PA-C: Current unrestricted Physician Assistant license in Delaware and National Commission certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP certifications.
