The Nemours St Francis Neonatology team in Wilmington, DE is seeking an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our Level II NICU with well-baby and delivery room responsibilities. Positions available as part-time or full-time.

The role provides front-line care in the delivery room and NICU, with a collaborative, independent practice within a multidisciplinary team. Requirements include at least 2 years of NICU/NP or PA experience, Delaware license or compact

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years Neonatal NP/PA experience.
• Delivery room and NICU experience required.
• Transport experience preferred.
• PA licensed in Delaware or compact state.
• Active Delaware APRN licensure, with or without prescriptive authority.
• Current BLS, NRP and NCC certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manages neonatal ICU patients with collaborative input from the team under supervision of a neonatologist.
• Receives distressed neonates in the delivery room and initiates interventions.
• Performs newborn exams and assesses gestational age.
• Conducts parent interviews and gathers family history.
• Collaborates with neonatologists on history, findings, and treatments.
• Orders laboratory tests and procedures as needed.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for neonatal care.
• Reviews care items such as temperature, nutrition, and phototherapy.
• Participates in daily rounds in NICU.

Job Description

The Nemours St FrancisNeonatology team is looking for an experienced part time or full time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a Level II NICU with well-baby and delivery room responsibilities.

Join our experienced team of Neonatal healthcare providers! Experienced neonatal nurse practitioner and physician assistant applicants will provide front-line care in the delivery room and 13 bed, level II NICU. Interested candidates must possess the ability to work with collaboratively and independently as a member of the healthcare team.

These opportunities perform in an expanded collaborative role by planning and providing comprehensive, complete management of a primary caseload of critically ill infants and their families. Day, evening and weekend hours are required.Typical shifts are 20 and 24 hours.

Essential Functions:

• Manages and provides care for the patient requiring neonatal intensive care utilizing collaborative consultation with team members, under the direction and supervision (but not necessarily the direct attendance) of an attending neonatologist.
• Receives a distressed neonate in the Delivery Room and initiates appropriate intervention.
• Performs a complete newborn physical examination and assessment of gestational age, discriminating between normal and abnormal findings.
• Conducts parent interviews and takes family history.
• Collaborates with neonatologists concerning pertinent historical events, physical findings, diagnostic and therapeutic measures initiated on all admissions.
• Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary and appropriate for the care of the patient.
• Reviews and provides general care items involved in neonatal care, such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
• Participates in daily rounds in NICU

Position Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years Neonatal NP/Physician Assistant experience. Other job experience may not be substituted for this requirement
• Delivery room and NICU experience required
• Transport experience preferred
• Graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation. Active license as a Physician Assistant in the State ofDelaware OR
• ActiveDelaware (or compact state) Advanced Practice Nurse Licensure, with or without prescriptive authority
• Current BLS, NRP and NCC certifications
