Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is seeking a Full Time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a 3 Neonatologist and 6 NNP team in the Boise metropolitan area.

In Boise’s 32-bed Level III NICU, provide high-level neonatal care including ventilation and supportive therapies, co-manage NICU patients, and participate in rounds with Neonatologists to optimize outcomes for 250+ infants yearly.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with current RN and APRN licensure; board certification as NNP desired.
• Graduate from a Physician Assistant program with neonatal fellowship/residency and PA-C licensure.
• Current DEA and Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC - Boise and SAMC - Nampa.

Responsibilities

• Attend high-risk deliveries and facilitate NICU admissions.
• Co-manage NICU patients with the attending Neonatologist.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and provide active management strategies.
• Update families on patient care and progress.

Job description

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led 650+ provider multispecialty group seeking a Full Time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join their employed, 3 Neonatologist and 6 NNP team in the Boise metropolitan area.

Our 32-bed, Level III NICU in Boise provides a high level of care for 250+ infants annually, offering conventional ventilation, iNO, HFOV, and jet ventilation for very early preterm, late preterm and term infants. The NICU serves families from Boise and the surrounding areas in Idaho and eastern Oregon to allow expert neonatal care close to home. The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center delivers 1,400+ infants a year and is staffed by a highly certified L&D nursing staff, OB Hospitalist service, and onsite 24-hour anesthesia (CRNA) coverage. Our safety-oriented team of OB/GYNs collaborate with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to serve the region's diverse patient population.

Our 4-bed, Level II NICU in Nampa (15 miles west of Boise) is clinically integrated with the Birkeland Maternity Center with an annual delivery rate of 1300+ babies. This small, 4-bed NICU currently provides a high level of care for newborns >34wks and 1500g, and is planning on expanding in 2028 to an 18-bed unit.

Responsibilities include:

• Attend high-risk deliveries and facilitate NICU admissions.
• Co-manage NICU patients with the attending Neonatologist and site-dependent well newborn nursery patients.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with the Neonatologist in the NICU by providing active management strategies that may include nutritional adjustments, ventilator management, lab, and radiology review, and updating families.

Staffing model/schedule:

• Level 3, Boise: 16-hr shifts in-house NNP coverage from 4pm-8am
• Level 2, Nampa: 24hr shifts with a minimum of 4 hours onsite, and the remainder on-call, incl. well NB coverage
• 1.0 FTE requirement is 10 shifts per month (120 annually)

Ideal candidate:

• Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with current RN and APRN licensure; current national board certification as NNP desired OR
• Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with neonatal fellowship/residency (or 3 years minimum experience working in Level III/IV NICU), and current PA-C licensure.
• Current DEA and controlled substance Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC - Boise and SAMC - Nampa.
