Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center in Dubuque, IA is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for a part-time role with 0.6 FTE (4 shifts per month, 52 shifts per year) in a level II NICU. The NNP will assess and treat neonates under pediatricians, attend high-risk deliveries, and support newborn care.

The position offers in-house shifts and a sleep room, with a collaborative medical staff. Qualified candidates will have an accredited NNP program, Iowa license, 2+ years NICU experience, and

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited NNP program.
• Unrestricted State of Iowa License.
• Experience in a NICU for a minimum of two years.
• Comfortable working independently with coverage in level II NICU, nursery rounds, deliveries, circumcisions.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification.
• NRP Certification.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities for interventions.

Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and treat neonates under pediatricians' supervision.
• Function as mid-level provider for newborn patients; plan and evaluate medical care.
• Order and interpret labs and X-ray; write orders for meds, IV therapy, nutrition, transfusions, admissions, transports, discharges.
• Attend high-risk deliveries, resuscitate, stabilize, and arrange transport as needed.
• Provide newborn care, resuscitation, and stabilization for deliveries.
• Provide consultation to administrative, nursing, and medical staff; participate in competency programs.
• Engage in quality improvement and policy development in Birth Center.
