Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to lead day-to-day care of critically ill and recovering infants in the NICU, in partnership with the Neonatology team.

The role coordinates care, orders tests and therapies, supports families, and participates in education and leadership activities within the unit. Requires Master’s in Nursing, Wisconsin APRN and RN licenses, NRP, BLS, and two+ years NICU experience; DEA number within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing required.
• Two or more years of NICU clinical experience.
• Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) in Wisconsin.
• RN license in Wisconsin.
• NRP and BLS certifications.
• DEA number within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of critically ill and convalescing infants in the NICU.
• Collaborate with the Neonatologist and care team to coordinate treatment.

This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications and therapies, and providing family support.NNP's are in a clinical leadership position in the NICU. Additional responsibilities include select nursing and medical staff education; consultation; advocacy for patients, families and nursing staff; involvement in professional development and research; participation and leadership in unit committees and councils; improvement of unit-specific neonatal outcomes.**Essential Functions***Clinical Judgment** Obtains and summarizes a complete health history, performs a comprehensive physical examination, synthesizes and interprets multiple sources of data, makes accurate clinical diagnoses, and formulates an individual treatment plan with expected outcomes.
