Job summary

Novant Health is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This PRN role involves working under approved protocols to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for newborns across Labor and Delivery, NICU, and newborn nursery, with autonomy and collaboration.

Requirements include an accredited NP program, NC RN licensure, and NCC or NC Board certifications, plus at least two years in high-risk neonatal care.

Qualifications

  • RN license currently licensed in NC; eligible to practice as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in NC
  • BB/Board certification in Neonatal Nursing (NCC) or physician assistant certification where applicable
  • Minimum two years of high-risk neonatal care experience
  • Ability to complete department-specific skills validation and competency testing

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage neonatal and pediatric patients under established protocols
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans with the care team
  • Evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Provide direct patient care in Labor and Delivery, NICU, Newborn Nursery, and Pediatrics
  • Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff; educate families and staff

Job description

What We Offer

We're seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this expanded role, you'll function under approved protocols to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for infants and their families across Labor and Delivery, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Newborn Nursery, Pediatrics, and other hospital areas as needed. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned NNP who wants the autonomy and flexibility of PRN scheduling while continuing to practice at a high level in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage the care of neonatal and pediatric patients under approved clinical protocols
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in partnership with the healthcare team
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Provide direct patient care in Labor and Delivery, NICU, Newborn Nursery, Pediatrics, and other units as census and need require
  • Collaborate and consult with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatment, and follow-up
  • Provide teaching and supervision to nursing staff, students, and other clinical team members
  • Respond to high-acuity and emergent neonatal situations as needed
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
  • Practice under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, adhering to all approved protocols and scope of practice
What We're Looking For
  • Education: Graduate of Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program; M.S.in Nursing or Graduate of Accredited Physician Assistant Program; Masters of Medical Science, required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two yrs in high risk neonatal care exp, required.
  • Licensure/Certification: RN license currently licensed in NC, approved to practice as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in NC By Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners; Certified by NCC;OR currently licensed by NC Board of Medical Examiners as a Physician Assistant; Certified by NCCPA, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): Physical requirements: Stand and move around majority of the day; climb (to reach patient care equipment); lift patients and equipment; push/pull wheelchairs, carts and beds; sit occasionally; bend and stoop; manual dexterity; run; negotiate stairs; see, hear, speak, smell, and touch.
