Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join the Level II Special Care Nursery. You will provide advanced neonatal care, collaborate with neonatology and pediatrics, and participate in program development within a growing community hospital supported by Duke University Health System.

The role emphasizes stabilization, transfers, and family-centered education, with opportunities for CME and leadership in improving NICU practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (NNP track) required.
• Active or eligible RN/APRN licensure.
• 2+ years NICU or neonatal APP experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with stabilization and transitional neonatal care preferred.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of newborns with intermediate acuity needs.
• Stabilize infants requiring escalation and coordinate transfers to higher-level NICU care as needed.
• Perform procedures within scope (e.g., airway management, IV access, resuscitation support).
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, nursing teams, and subspecialists.
• Deliver family-centered care, education, and communication throughout the patient journey.
• Participate in quality improvement, program development, and clinical best practices.
