Job summary

UNC Health Medical Group Neonatology at Lenoir, in partnership with UNC Health Lenoir, in Kinston, NC, seeks certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners for full-time roles in a Level 1 Nursery, with Per Diem opportunities as well. The team includes pediatricians and consulting neonatologists, providing high-quality newborn care with strong independence and remote physician support.

Schedule features 7 days on/off with 12-hour daytime shifts; 7:00am–7:00pm; full benefits, PTO, CME, and retirement

Qualifications

• Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner credential or certification.
• L&D, Nursery or Pediatric NP work experience required.
• Ability to work independently with remote supervising physician oversight.

Responsibilities

• Primary caregiver in Level 1 Nursery to newborns.
• Assessing and diagnosing newborn infants.
• Prescribing medication with supervising physician agreement.
• Educating parents in newborn care and safety.
• Ordering and performing medical tests and procedures.
• Work independently with remote MD support.
• Prepare for transfer to Level 2-3 NICUs if needed.
• Assist with neonatal procedures when needed.
