Job summary

Driscoll Children's Hospital in Laredo, TX seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to manage a neonatal caseload with independent clinical judgment under physician supervision.

Requires Texas RN/APN licensure, NNP certification (or progress), NRP and BLS, and significant neonatal experience. The role emphasizes family counseling, care coordination, and collaboration with the neonatology team.

Qualifications

• Masters degree preferred; if none, title grandfathered before Jan 2000.
• Current Texas RN/APN licensure and NNP eligibility.
• Significant neonatal service experience and knowledge.
• National NNP certification or progress toward.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Provide care for a caseload of neonates with independent assessment and plan.
• Order and interpret diagnostic/lab studies; develop treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications, fluids, respiratory and nutrition therapies as appropriate.
• Consult with attending neonatologist and specialty services as needed.
• Counsel and educate families on infant condition and care post-discharge.
• Coordinate with neonatology team, case management and bedside staff.
