Job summary

Children’s Colorado is seeking a Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider Lead to supervise a defined group of APPs at CHCO and partner sites. Job description

Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider Lead

The Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead serves as a front-line clinical and operational leader, responsible for supervising and managing the performance of a defined group of APPs at CHCO and/or partner sites. This role is accountable for safe, efficient, high-quality site-based care delivery, while modeling expert clinical practice and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The APP Lead oversees daily site operations, including staffing, workflow optimization, and real-time problem solving to maintain continuity of care. They drive team performance, engagement, and development through onboarding, training, coaching, and competency assessment. In collaboration with physician leaders, APP peers, and senior leadership, the APP Lead advances strategic, clinical, and operational initiatives and supports the development and standardization of policies, procedures, and practice standards. The APP Lead also serves as the primary contact for site operations, care escalation, and APP program matters, facilitating communication and alignment across teams and leadership.

In addition to this role, the Neonatal Advanced Practice Lead (APP) will also fulfill their respective APP job description for all clinical time.

    Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $144,495.62 to $216,743.44
  • Eligible Incentives
    This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $30,000 for qualified external applicants.
    Relocation assistance available if relocating from 100 miles or greater.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting professional standards in daily work.
  • Partners with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and family to include rounding with patients, families, and team members to promote patient family experience and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of schedules and workflows, including assigning team members to patients.
  • Ensures staffing resources are allocated appropriately and adjust coverage to meet patient, department, and partner site needs.
  • Resolves day-to-day operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solve underlying problems.
  • Collaborates with site management to track and analyze operational data and key performance indicators, optimizing patient care and operational effectiveness within the unit.
  • Leads team member onboarding, training, and education, ensuring alignment with department and/or partner site needs; mentors team members in creating and evaluating projects focused on clinical practice improvement.
  • Assists team members in achieving clinical and quality outcomes as well as performance and professional development standards; identifies opportunities for continued improvement.
  • Collaborates with peer Leads and department leadership to align and execute key leadership initiatives and priorities, supporting progress, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversees team member development and performance management, partnering with managers on hiring, promotions, and corrective action decisions.
  • Reviews and maintains awareness of regulatory, hospital, department, and/or partner site policies and procedures, ensuring understanding and compliance; may partner with stakeholders in developing and defining policies, processes, and practice standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • BSN and Master’s Degree NNP or Bachelor’s Degree and MPS or MS-PA
  • Experience
    • Two years in an APP role
    • Experience on a Level IV NICU preferred
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
    • Registered Nurse License (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License, or Colorado PA License
    • Prescriptive Authority License
    • Board Certification as an APP
